Design in Motion:

A New York City Ballet Fall Fashion Gala Retrospective

Curated by NYCB Director of Costumes, Marc Happel.

Design in Motion was a first-ever exhibition that provided an up-close look at the incredible artistry of the New York City Ballet (NYCB) Costume Shop.

About the exhibition

The NYCB Fall Fashion Gala, started by Sarah Jessica Parker in 2012 with a tribute to designer Valentino, has since brought together top fashion designers and choreographers to create costumes for 27 ballets.

Design in Motion, in partnership with MILK Studios, and hosted at Intersect by Lexus, will display the stunning costumes from these ballets alongside performance videos from 2012 to 2018. The exhibit feature works of designers such as Virgil Abloh of Off-White™, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Thom Browne, Iris van Herpen, and Peter Copping for Oscar de la Renta.

As ambassador to the space, I had the pleasure of guiding guests through the retrospective, positioning Intersect by Lexus as a hub for innovation.
